Like many today, we have recently heard of the passing of Abdullah Ibrahim. An utterly unique musician and talented jazz pianist, Ibrahim is also one of the jazz legends we have had the good fortune to see live. His music takes the listener on a journey through many moods, landscapes, and images, employing dissonance, balladry, Monkish or Ellington-inspired blutopia. Our only regret is not pursuing the chance to see Abdullah Ibrahim again in the US. Requiescat in pace.
