Whilst engaged in a long chat with someone about jazz over the weekend, we couldn't recall the name of Bix Beiderbecke. Randomly, today, his name came back to me and I was pleasantly surprised to see an interpretation of his brilliant "In a Mist" by Clark Terry. Recorded in the 1960s, it's obviously going to be quite different from the 1920s aesthetic of Beiderbecke. But Beiderbecke was so visionary that his work sounds relatively modern even for the early 1960s...
