Haven't visited in a while, but it's great to see posts on two of my all time favorite singers, Joe Arroyo, and Ti-Manno on my return. I discovered Ti-Manno relatively late (though I had material by Dp Express, Gemini, and medleys of his music by Compakolor, and other konpa artists. I'm not trying to collect all of his recordings. Thanks.
Thanks for returning! I am trying to find more Colombian music with Haitian influences, like some of Joe Arroyo's music. Do you know of any other great artists in that vein?
And I love Ti-Manno, and though I heard of him years ago, I never listened to his music or DP Express until recently.
There's the group Wganda Kenya, but I think that you've posted their videos here before. The late Arroyo was in a class by himself. Email me and i'll send you a list with some champeta and other Afro Colombian recordings that i own.
A personal note for you only. Here's my discogs collection. http://www.discogs.com/user/ken_yatta/collection blog and a Martiniquan vinyl collector who lives in Paris. We've traded a lot of makossa. Just about every makossa recording that i've seen from the 70s -80s had French Antillean session musicians. Jean Claud Naimro plead keys on countless records. Take a look.
